KGHL TV: KGHL-TV Channel 8 Billings came on the air March 15, 1958. Their studios, along with KGHL radio 790 were located at 214 North 30th Street for a number of years. The KGHL-TV test pattern and ID on air photos are from 1961.

KULR-TV
KULR TV: The call letters were changed to KULR in 1963. Pronounced "color" their slogan quickly became "Color 8." The IDs are from 1963 and 1969. In the late 1960's KULR-TV built a new building around their Coburn Road transmitter building to house the offices and studios. There was a welcome sign pointing the way to this location as seen in the photos from 1971. Note the colorful lettering on the building. Billboards and print ads were used to promote their then ratings winning newscasts in the 1970s. In September of 1983 KULR announced they were building a new $3 million dollar studio complex in Homestead Business Park just off King Avenue West. By this time the station was using the slogan "Straight 8." The photos of the inside of the studios were taken by David Gordon while on a radio club tour in 2000. In 2008 the station was revisited. Gone are the days of "Straight 8" and "The Spirit of Montana" and even gone is a local master control room. KULR TV is controlled out of KHQ TV Spokane, Washington.
