Welcome to Maine sign - 2019.


WBAE: 1490 Portland started out in 1946 as WPOR. The call letters were changed to WBAE in 1999. Their transmitter and tower are located on Forest Avenue in the Hannaford Plaza. This tower also has antennas for WMGX FM 93.1, WPOR FM 101.9, and WYNZ FM 100.9 as seen in the photo from 2019.

WGAN: WGAN Radio 560 started out in 1938. Original owner was Gannett Publishing (Portland Press Herald). Their transmitter site is near the Maine Turnpike on Warren Avenue as seen in the photo from 2019. This site is also the location to WYNZ FM 100.9 and translators W288CU 105.5, W253DA 98.5, W277AM 103.3 and W268CS 101.5.

WLOB: WLOB Radio 1310 Portland came on the air in 1957. The call letters wLOB reflect the LOBster industry in the area. Studios, transmitter, and towers are located at 779 Warren Avenue as seen in the photos from 2019. This is also the location for WJAB and WRED (see WRED below). Two towers are used for daytime pattern, 3 towers are used for nighttime pattern.

WRED: 1440 Radio started out in 1959 as WJAB, they are currently WRED. Licensed to Westbrook, they serve the Portland market. Studios are located at 779 Warren Avenue along with WLOB and WJAB (see WLOB above). Their three towers are located on Juniper Lane as seen in the photo from 2019.

WVAE: 1400 Biddeford started out in 1949 as WIDE. The calls were changed to WVAE in 2003, but in 2013 they were changed to WGIN before returning to WVAE in 2018. Their transmitter and tower are located on Pumerleau Street as seen in the photo from 2019.
