KABC: KABC 790 and KLOS FM 95.5 studios are located at 3321 South La Cienega Boulevard in Los Angeles. 790 started out as
KVFV in 1925, changed to KECA in 1929, and then to KABC in 1954.

KALI: KALI Radio 1430 San Gabriel had studios at 5723 Melrose Avenue in 1970. The second photo is of the building in 2013.

KAZA: 1290 Radio Gilroy came on the air in 1957 as KPER. In 1967 the calls were changed to KAZA. The KAZA tower photo was taken by David Gordon on assignment from johninarizona in 2022. This tower is also used by KZSJ 1120 (see KZSJ below).

KBEH TV: Channel 63, licensed to Oxnard, came on the air in 1985 as KTIE, later changing to KADY-TV and then to KBEH in 2004. The KBEH screen shot is from 2013.

KBET TV: Channel 10 Sacramento started out in 1955 as KBET TV and a CBS affiliate. Call letters were changed to KXTV in 1959. In 1995 affiliation was changed to ABC TV. This print ad for Art Linkletter's House Party is from the late 1950s.

KBIG: KBIG 740 and FM 104.3 Los Angeles in 1970 had studios at 6540 Sunset Boulevard.

KBPK FM: KBPK FM 90.1 is owned by the Buena Park School District and operated by Fullerton College. Studios and transmitter
are located at Buena Park Junior High School at 6931 Orangethorpe Avenue. That taller tower in the distance is KFI 640.

KCAL: KCAL Radio 1410 Redlands serves the San Bernardino / Riverside market. The tower and transmitter for KCAL are located
on West Lugonia Avenue.

KCBS TV: Channel 2 Los Angeles started out in 1931 as W6AXO as one of the first television stations in the world. In the early days they were KNXT (see below) and in 1984 they changed to KCBS-TV. The on air screen shots are from 2013.

KCET TV: KCET TV Channel 28 Los Angeles studios at 4401 West Sunset Boulevard as seen in 1973. They were in this location,
the former Monogram Pictures studios, from 1971 until 2011.

KCKC: KCKC Radio 1350 San Bernardino started in 1947. Call letters were changed to KEWS in 2001, then in 2002 to KTDD

KCOP TV: Channel 13 Los Angeles came on the air in 1948 as KLAC TV. The calls were changed to KCOP-TV in 1953.

KCRA TV: KCRA TV Channel 3 Sacramento was received more than once by John on skip reception some 865 miles in
Sheridan, Wyoming.

KDAY: KDAY Radio 1580 Santa Monica started in 1948. The call letters were rumored to stand for the fact the station was a daytime only operation. The building pictured is at 1700 North Alvardo Street. Station tower site is behind the building. The photo from the early
1970s was part of the Bill Block collection.

KDIS: 1110 Pasadena came on the air in 1942 as KPAS. In 1945 that was changed to KXLA, then KRLA in 1959, and to
KSPN in 2001. In 2003 calls were changed to KDIS. In 1987 they moved theirt tower site to Irwindale just west of the 605 at the corner
of East Live Oak Avenue and East Logden Avenue. Later they changed the call letters to KRDC (Radio Disney Country). Now KRDC airs a sports format.

KEZY: 1240 San Bernardino has seen numerous call letter changes from KBON to KDIG, KLFE, KKLA, KLTH, and now KEZY.
Studios, transmitter, and tower are located on South Inland Center Drive.

KFI: KFI Radio 640 Los Angeles came on the air in 1922. This station is rich in history and we will not attempt to duplicate all the information that is available elsewhere on the internet. The original KFI tower was hit by an airplane in 2004. The replacement tower was completed in 2008. Transmitter and tower are located on Trojan Way in La Mirada.

KFNY: The KFNY 1440 Riverside tower is located west of South Riverside Avenue. The photo was taken at the end of
Security Avenue in Colton.

KFWB: KFWB Radio 980 Los Angeles has quite a history since coming on the air in 1925. The KFWB call letters were originally
assigned by the Department of Commerce. Studios had been at 6419 Hollywood Boulevard since 1950 as seen in the photo from 1970. That location is now a vacant lot. The roof of the Hollywood Pacific Theater next door still has the KFWB towers installed in 1928.

KGBN: 1190 Anaheim started out in 1959 as KEZY. Call letters were changed numerous times including KNWZ, KPZE, KORG, and KXMX before they were changed to KGBN. The station is currently airing Korean Christian programming. Studios are located at 2641 West La Palma Avenue. The KGBN photos are from 2021 and provided by David Gordon.

KHJ: KHJ Radio 930 and KHJ TV Channel 9 Los Angeles had studios at 5515 Melrose Avenue next door to the Paramount studios

KIQQ: The transmitter and towers for KIQQ Radio Barstow are located near North 1st Avenue just south of Old Highway 58.

KKDD: 1290 San Bernardino is probably most remembered as KMEN in the 1960's. Later KMRZ, now KKDD. The transmitter and
tower site is north of Base Line near Highland Creek behind San Gorgonio High School.

KKSM: 1320 Oceanside started out in 1956 as KNNC. The calls were changed to KGMG in 1986 and then to KKLQ in 1994. In 1996 the call letters were changed to KKSM. This facility is a 500 watt class B college radio station operated by Palomar College of San Marcos. The photo taken of their towers as seen from Oceanside Boulevard is from 2021. KLAC: 570 Radio Los Angeles started out in 1924 as KFPG, in 1925 the calls were changed to KMTR. In 1946 they became KLAC. The photo of their studios from the early 1970s is part of the Bill Block collection.

KLBS: KLBS Radio 1330 Los Banos started in 1961. Studios are located at 401 East Pacheco Boulevard as seen in the photos from 2020. This is also the location for KQLB FM 106.9. Photos taken by David Gordon.

KLCS TV: KLCS call letters stand for Los Angeles City Schools. They came on the air in 1957.
KLCS TV 58.1 Los Angeles
KLIV: 1590 San Jose came on the air in 1946 as KSJO. The call letters were changed to KLIV in 1960. In early 2019 KLIV went off the air. The photo of their three towers was taken by David Gordon around the time the station went silent. It is understood the land was sold.

KLOK: KLOK 1170 San Jose came on the air in 1946. The transmitter site as seen from US 101 is also the transmitter and tower site for KSJX

KMPC: In 1973 710 in Los Angeles was KMPC. Studios were at 5858 Sunset Boulevard. This building had been the Sunset Bowling Center which featured 52 lanes and was the largest bowling alley in the world. Pin boys lived in the loft of the building. The KMPC 710 towers (now KSPN) are located
in the Van Nuys area of Los Angeles north of Burbank Boulevard along Bellaire Avenue. During a sceen in a 1958 'Highway Patrol' episode the towers could be seen in the background.

KNBC TV: Channel 4 Los Angeles started out in 1949 as KNBH TV. In 1954 the call letters were changed to KRCA TV (Now the KRCA call letters are on channel 62 in Riverside). In 1962 the call letters were changed to KNBC TV. The Sea Hunt print ad for KRCA TV is from about 1960. The station photos are from 1973. The screen grabs are from 2013.

KNX: KNX Radio 1070 Los Angeles started out in 1920 as 6ADZ. For a number of years studios were at 6121 Sunset Boulevard
known as Columbia Square. KNXT TV was also located there. The KNX transmitter and towers are located in Torrance in Columbia Park not far from
the Exxon Refinery.

Forty years later 5704 Sunset Boulevard is home to Castalara Multiservices Offices and the law offices of Merlyn N. Hernandez.

KPXN TV: Channel 30 Los Angeles started in 1969 as KHOF-TV. They went dark in 1983, returned in 1985 as KAGL-TV, then in 1992 the FCC shut the station down. In 1994 they were back on as KZKI-TV, then in 1997 and then in 1998 to KPXN. The screen shot is from 2013.

KPYX TV: Channel 44 San Francisco came on the air in 1968 as KBHK-TV. In 2006 the call letters were changed to KBCW and then in 2023 they became KPYX TV and newly branded as KPIX+ (sister station to KPIX TV Channel 5, see KPIX TV above). KRKC: KRKC Radio King City came on the air in 1959 on 1570 as a daytime only station, in 1963 they moved to 1490 to become full time. The photo taken in the early 1970s is part of the Bill Block collection.

KRVR: KRVR FM 105.5 is licensed to Copperopolis, but serves the Modesto and Stockton market. The station came on the air in 1995. Studios are located at 961 North Emerald Avenue in Modesto. This is also the home for KVIN 920 (see KVIN below). 2019 photos are by David Gordon.

KSFO: KSFO Radio 560 San Francisco was located at their 950 California Street address from 1955 until 1983.

KTIE: 590 San Bernardino started out in 1929 as KFXM. From 1991 to 1995 the calls were KRSO, now as KTIE studios are
located next door to the KEZY studios on South Island Center Drive (see above). The 590 tower site is located west of the 215 in the middle
of an auto dealers plaza.

KTLA TV: KTLA TV Channel 5 Los Angeles came on the air in 1947 as the first commercially locensed TV station in the western United
States. Studios have been at 5800 West Sunset Boulevard for quite a few years. The tower with the KTLA letters was originally one of KFWB's broadcast towers. This tower, used as signage, was dismantled on November 24, 2014 and was relocated.

KTLK and KTNQ: KTLK Radio 1150 and KTNQ Radio 1020 Los Angeles share a unique tower site loated in a City of Industry
warehosue district located between Don Julian Road and Proctor Avenue along 6th Avenue. A warehouse was built around their five tower array.

KTTV: KTTV Channel 11 Los Angeles had studios at 5746 Sunset Boulevard not far from KTLA in 1973 when these photos were taken.
Then known as Metromedia Square, many Norman Lear TV productions were filmed in this building. The building has since been demolished.

KVEA TV: KVEA TV Channel 52 Los Angeles live truck spotted in 2013.

KVIN: 920 started in 1963 as KLOC. The calls were changed to KVIN. The station is licensed to Ceres but serves the Modesto market. Studios are located at 961 North Emerald Avenue in Modesto. This is also the home for KRVR FM (see KRVR above). KVIN 920 has a translator, K222BX 92.3 FM. 2019 photos are by David Gordon.

KVNR: 1480 Sanat Ana had been KWIZ for quite a few years (see KWIZ below) until 1998 when the calls were changed to KVNR.
The KWIZ call letters remain on their FM on 96.7. The studios and tower site are located at 3101 West 5th Street. The towers are located in
a golf course.

KVTR: 1590 Victorville has seen numerous call letter changes since KCIN in 1961. In 1995 the calls were changed to
KROY, then in 2001 they were KATJ, followed by KRSX in 2003. In 2013 the calls changed again, this time to KVTR. Their transmitter and tower
are located west of I-15. This photo from 2013 was taken from Tawney Ridge Lane.

KVVN: 1430 Santa Clara started out in 1963 as KOBA. In 1965 the call letters were changed to KONU and then to KEGL in 1969. In 1976 the call letters were changed to KNTA and to KVVN in 1997. The photo of their 4 towers was taken by David Gordon in 2023 for johninarizona.

KWHY TV: Channel 22 Los Angeles came on the air in 1965 as KPOL-TV. In 1966 the calls became KWHY TV. In 1973 studios
were located at 5545 West Sunset Boulevard next to the Sunwest Recording Studios. That address is now a Panda Express.
